who runs it all

“I’m busy that day.”

A {pretend} Electrical & Computer Engineer by day, a tv and movie addict by night. Al is assigned, not by choice, a variety of names (e.g Albert, Alfred, etc) by different people but doesn’t have the heart to correct them. In his free time he perfects his boxing technique, ups his bowling average, attempts to become a true foodie, and drives like Brian O’Connor on the streets of Houston. To him, the small things are the ones that make people, situations, and life great. Catch him always with a smile on his face, a helping hand ready to act, and watermelon on his mind.

“Can I get some hot sauce with that?”

A Texas girl currently enjoying 65 degree weather year round in San Francisco. Her schedule consists of napping, eating, exploring, and working - in that order. An architectural engineer by background, but a saleswoman in livelihood. Don't get too formal with her, or else she'll bring out her sales voice. Hobbies include eating food (not making it), buying useless (but aesthetic) things, painting, and new experiences. Always found with a smile on her face or sleeping during work.

“Are you going to eat that? I’m still hungry.”

Currently still a finȃnce major, Mohamedali, mostly known as Gire, is learning the way to build an empire from scratch. While he may be more fit than most of society, he can eat all that is presented to him, never taking home leftovers. He’s always down to do, see, and eat most things, but only if it fits into his schedule along with basketball and hibernating at home. You’ll find him when you expect it least, but when you do, ask him about the 80/20 rule of Mohamedali Gire {Prepare yourself mentally before hearing the answer}.

labeeba rana

Marketing Director | labeeba@salaamfoundation.org

“Where’s the ‘Do Not Disturb’ icon?”

An expert Googler (not be confused with a Google employee), Labeeba’s approachable personality masks her introverted days of coding, cooking, and hitting piano keys. Her life motto of “live in this world as a traveler” is taken a little too literally as she is always ready to hop on a flight for an adventure full of photo shoots, scenic views and an audacious time. The real question is, are you ready to challenge the beast of a hot wing competitor that lays inside?!

hira vayani

development director | hira@salaamfoundation.org

"Is it time for dessert?"

Currently, Hira is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, studying supply chain management and international relations. She adores these subjects and cannot (or perhaps will not) stop talking about the supply chain for iPhones or Mesoamerican art history. In her free time, she is probably baking cookies, decorating a cake, or eating brownies (or all three) - and you can see all of it on her baking blog Sprinkles of Sweetness. She feels uncomfortable writing about herself in the third person.

ahmed khan

network director | ahmed@salaamfoundation.org

"What’s the move?"

On any given day, you can find Ahmed anywhere but home. Whether it’s the new sushi restaurant downtown or spontaneously taking a road trip to the nearest desert, he’s always chasing new experiences. When he’s not working his IT job, he’s out meeting people and giving back to his community. He’s also most definitely the man to try the latest or craziest fashion trends of today. If you ever see him, say Salaam!

adeel ghayasuddin

finance strategy director | adeel@salaamfoundation.org

"Take care of your mentals and take care of your chickens."

Adeel loves talking about building wealth to where anytime you talk to him, it turns into a conversation about how to use your credit card points to fly to Cancun. He graduated with a bachelors in psychology and is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas. Adeel is known for taking the initiative to tell others to take initiative and spending his time as an unpaid spokesperson for Slack.
